Kill a Craving with Fruit
As any dieter knows, one thing that makes you so miserable on a diet (in addition to the boring food) is that constant feeling of being hungry. You can really grow to hate your own appetite on a weight-reducing program. It’s bound to lead to nothing but trouble (like chocolate cake and giant hamburgers). All the will power, resolve, and determination in the world can go right out the window (the drive-through window) when a heavy attack of hunger pangs hits. But wholesome foods will help you regulate that appetite.
When you rely on wholesome foods with their full complement of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, your appetite will begin to regulate itself. Instead of an appetite out of control, you’ll have an appetite in control. You’ll feel hungry only when your body needs food. So instead of denying the hunger pangs, you will be able to satisfy them- but with the right foods.
Not all calories are created equal. Refined sugar (or table sugar), for example, upsets the appetite, making it nearly impossible to understand if your body has a real, or artificially induced, craving for more food. But fruit, on the other hand, which contains natural sugar known as fructose, actually helps control your appetite.
