Read the recipe from beginning to end first, and make sure you understand all the instructions. - Prepare and measure out all the ingredients before you begin cooking and have them all in reach.
- Take down all utensils and serving dishes you will need before you begin, and have them within reach.
- Clean as you go along. Throw away peels and scraps, and clean work surfaces, arranging ingredients on separate plates, or in neat piles. everything will be much easier if your kitchen doesn’t look like a war zone, and you will be grateful for your good habits when its time to do the dishes.
Make sure to read the glossary of cooking terms and utensils as well as the instructions for the proper handling and cutting of meat, fruits and vegetables. Also know the general cooking directions for cooking grains and legumes.
