American Fries

  • Yield: 6 servings (85 calories and 2 % fat per 1/2 cup serving)

Ingredients:

3 medium size baking potatoes (about 1 1/2 pounds)

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Vegetable cooking spray

Procedure:

  1. Scrub potatoes then cut into 1/4 inch thick slices.
  2. Pat slices dry with paper towels.
  3. Combine onion powder and next 4 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag; add potato slices, and shake well to coat.
  4. Arrange potato slices in a single layer on a large baking sheet coated with cooking spray.
  5. Bake at 425 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes on each side or until lightly browned.
  6. Serve hot.

Each serving provides:

Fiber: 1.9 g

Cholesterol: 0 mg

Protein: 2.5 g

Sodium: 106 mg

Carbohydrate : 18.8 g

Fat: 0.2 g
